Out with the old and in with the new

Besides this blogging adventure I am embarking on and the social media diet I am on I have a few other things I/we are trying. In no particular order here are some of the new things in my life.


  • Online grocery shopping for delivery or pick up:  No we don't have kids that we need to schlep from practice to practice, but we are busy. I work 2 jobs and hopefully, I will be starting my 3rd job soon.  (more about that later and my thought process of why I picked up a 3rd job) We are also getting more and more involved with our church and sometimes on Sundays we spend a good portion at church. Also, it really stops our impulse buying, gets us a bit more organized. At first, I had an issue with the large amount of plastic bags that were coming into our house. This weekend, though I went to pick up the groceries and I saw canvas bags in alphabetical order and I put my brain to good use, figured out customers could leave their canvas bags at the store and have their groceries delivered to their house or pick up their groceries in their own canvas bags. You would need 2 sets but really who doesn't have an extra bags hanging around?
  • Podcast:    I don't have a long commute but long enough 25 minutes or so. I am not big on listening to music for a variety of reasons so I either chose an audiobook if I have the car with XM  I will listen to a news station (CNN/MSNBC) or a podcast. This summer I listened to the "presidential" podcast. A major thumbs up to that podcast and now I have started "Stuff you should know"  A variety of topics from " how pain scales were created" to "The history of the Trail of Tears"  A couple of summers ago I listened to "The Mystery Show" which was amazing sadly though it no longer exists. I will have you know that I googled how to properly write the title podcasts do they need to be underlined, quotes, italics?   AP had no requirements while Chicago Style says quotes.
  • Meditation  I have trouble quieting my brain I also have trouble shutting my brain off at night and I need to fix that. So while this meditation app is supposed to be done sitting up and probably not meant for night time that is when I am using this guided meditation. Last night was my first night. I could feel myself relax.
  • Not being early Say what? No really I don't have to be at work until 8:20 or maybe it is 8:10 but I end up getting there at 7:35.  Do I get paid for that extra time?  No   Do I beat most teachers to work? YES  Does that make me a better employee?  NO!   Do I get recognized for my early arrival?  No, because nobody is there haha.  Seriously I  don't know why I need to get places so early I have always arrived early. 
  • Water  I need to drink more water less soda. That is really all that needs to be said about this subject.

  1. I really like this post. I learned a lot about you that I didn't know before. I need to drink more water too. Maybe when I retire and can use the bathroom whenever I want?
