- In our school, if you are a "Child-specific" paraprofessional you are assigned a student in the morning and a student in the afternoon. This is not my favorite way of working but I digress a bit. I knew the afternoon para I swap students with was going to be out as well. We were already going to be down 1 person how could I do this to the students, the team, the oh my forget it I am sick!
- It also meant I would have to cancel babysitting after school. I mean I could have picked the boys up from the bus stop today. The problem with this is one they are in the same school district and I would feel dishonest working in the afternoon, but I was going to leave these parents in a tight spot of sorts. Except they have family close by that can step in when I am unavailable. The second reason is umm I am sick. See how this reason always comes second? Ya, I am noticing that as well.
- I wasn't feeling well yesterday but once I got to work I forgot all about it interestingly enough my morning student was absent. Must have been then 100.2 temp she went home with the day before. So I was concerned that once I called out I would start feeling better and then I would be a "faker" truth be told I hated school so much in fifth grade I faked sick a lot. Guess what it is 10:00 and while my migraine is gone for now I still have the fever and just blah.
I have a feeling this has been bubbling for a while and maybe I should have just tried to nip it in the bud right in the beginning. How often do we push ourselves though?
I think we get so sick because we DO push ourselves so much. Hope that fever breaks soon & you're back to 100% soon! Rest up & take care of you!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I am hoping to return tomorrow to work. 2 more days and it will be Spring Break!
DeleteGood for you! We have to take care of ourselves. In a weird coincidence, I took the day off yesterday, but more for mental health. Things are a little crazy at school as we approach spring break. And I hate block schedules!
